Since 1967 Greene County Career Center has served provided workforce development programs for high school students seeking career-technical training that can lead to college and careers. Any student in Greene County entering their junior year of high school can chose to attend our Career Center. They spend the last two years of high school earning high school credit that leads to graduation from their home school district. During the 2016-17 school year, nearly 650 students are enrolled at the main campus on West Enon Road in Xenia Township.
Awareness Program
Starting with building tours in 8th grade, students throughout the county are exposed to the Career Center's programs and opportunities. During the sophomore year, Career Awareness Days allow students to visit three programs of their choice. On-line application for admission begins the week after Thanksgiving. The link to apply is located on our homepage. Greene Days provides a chance for sophomores to visit for an entire school day beginning in February. The Advantage
Greene County Career Center students are eligible for significant cost savings when it comes to attending college through the college Tech Prep initiative. Virtually all of our programs have links to Clark State and Sinclair Community Colleges and are eligible for scholarships in the $3,000 range. A number of GCCC programs also have agreements through the college system to offer free college credit while still in high school. Additionally, students have the opportunity to earn industry certifications that are accepted across the nation.
College and Careers
Data over the last 10 years indicates that approximately 60 percent of GCCC graduates go on to some kind of post-secondary education. This could be a two- or four-year university or college, a career college, accredited apprenticeship program or another industry-based training program.
